I'm not an expert either, but after years of listening to criticism of managers I have a good idea what constitutes success. I'd say a successful boss is >>>



One who delivers a year-on-year improvement in results.
His team ends higher up the league table than it did the previous year.
He has good man-mangement skills.
He's a damn good tactician.


He never gets into debt, cos that would cause points to be docked....So he buys (players) very astutely..... IE good at spotting those with potential. Good at spotting turkeys a mile off & not buying them. Good at off-loading the turkeys he did inherit.

Success in 'Arry's case was an FA cup win and a quarter final place in the EC Cup.

Brian Clough and Bob Paisley must have been geniuses if 'Arry is a success.
