When we had the last Burka discussion sometime ago i asked a question that i never got the answer to, but we've had some new posters join since then, so i might get an answer now. Why is it that some Muslim women wear the Burka with the full veil? Is it because the women feel they have to let their men be in charge, or is it that their men dont trust their women to be seen in western clothes or showing their faces, and if so why, because if thats the case, then imo its a trust issue, so why be with a person you cant trust? So has anyone got an answer please. Proud And Passionate

I doubt if any of us have the answer, just opinions. Mine are-their men folk do not want the white man/ infidel gazing upon them. Their men do not trust them or us. They do it for defiance, to show their feet are firmly planted on the soil of our island and they will do as they please as they seem to do with building mosques. Slightly OT with the last 2 words but there is my 2 pennuth.

Dunno, is it cos they is ugly? I have known some fairly hairy arabs, probably the women wear the full veil so they dont have to shave in the morning

I believe it is because they do not want any other man to look at their wives with desire and also because they believe it is a requirement of their religion. The women concerned usually feel the same way about it. Only SOME muslim woman wear this though, and I'm assuming there are many different varients of the faith/beliefs/rules as there is with christianity as well as individual interpretations.

I assume that you realise that you've just opened a can of worms potentially.

The Burqa is a full one piece clothing item to cover the whole of the body. The Hijab is a square scarf which is worn to suit full face coverage or leave any amount visual. The Niqab is a full face clothing to leave the eyes seen or not depending on the wearer. Why they wear it depends on who you speak to. Just read an article by a 17yr old girl who says her mum does not wear it but she prefers to.....as is her right. Many Afghan women are forced into wearing one or the other but many also reserve the right to wear it of their own free will. Don't suppose anyone knows for sure. One thing for sure though...............I'll never support a ban while we have teenagers strolling around wearing hoodies in the middle of summer. Even saw one on TV applying for an apprenticeship.....................needless to say I reckon he had zilch chance of getting it. All men die... but not all men live

Howdy rr. "The women concerned usually feel the same way about it". If you are claiming this sentence above as fact will you kindly substantiate it please? Or is it a unsubstantiated claim on your part? Clarification please. Ta.
